In 2011, the new home of the SCFC was Redwood Christian Park (RCP), located in the San Lorenzo Valley near Boulder Creek. Following the overwhelmingly positive experience we had there, we’ll be back in 2012. RCP manages their forest under a Nonindustrial Timber Management Plan. This sustainably-managed forest provides excellent opportunities for learning about the beautiful and complex redwood ecosystem.
While the current issue for the event has not been fully developed, it will most likely involve a private, Forest Stewardship Council certified tract of forestland. Managing forestlands to produce the redwood products we need and enjoy while protecting the environment is a complicated, science-dependent process. The dedicated professionals at Big Creek Lumber Company, Redwood Empire, the local forestry community, and the staff of the Soquel Demonstration State Forest will once again cooperate with us to put on an informational and fun packed event in the heart of redwood country.
Redwood Christian Park has all of the amenities you would expect, including a full service dining hall, in-cabin bathrooms, and a swimming pool. Last year, recreational opportunities included a wildly popular night hike, swimming, and evening campfires.
Registration fees are $160 per person, and are due on October 26, 2012.
